Established in 1973 by Cav. Luigi Vittorio Zecchin, ZETAESSE immediately gives a turning to the standard plumbing technique by introducing the first pre-insulated copper tube named "CUPEX", the brand that gave start to the "energy saving" era.
Cross-linked polyethylene foam Zetacell
CUPEX is a patent of 1980, and as already mentioned was an absolute novelty in the thermal-hydraulic field. It was the first copper pipe pre-insulated with a coating which would fulfil the law then in force for the containment of energy consumption (Law No. 373 of 30 April 1976).
The word CUPEX was created by combining the chemical symbols of the two used materials, that is to say CU (copper) + PEX (polyethylene). This shows that ZETAESSE chose from the beginning to base its entire production on the cross-linked polyethylene foam (PEX), the unique material used for the covering of its products since 30 years.
ZETAESSE in 1994 installed the first plant for the extrusion of polyethylene foam, and then becomes totally self-sufficient in terms of production.
The advantages of PEX compared to most other insulating materials are varied, the polyethylene is a material with high resistance both mechanical and thermal. This was soon recognised by the market that opens quickly to new opportunities. Many are the applications of this material, which can be used in addition to heating/plumbing field, even in the automotive, aeronautical, naval, in clothing, sporting and lots more.
The choice of ZETAESSE to install two additional extrusion lines has the aim to diversify its production, in order to be able to embrace different sectors and continue its growth path.
Throughout its history ZETAESSE boasts of being the first in several technological innovations. In this development, trying to meet the demands of a changing and evolving market, ZETAESSE decides today to address two "bets" looking at two completely new areas: the production of cross-linked polyethylene foam and the production of multilayer pipes.
